SOA Semiconductor Amplifier


The principle of SOA optical amplifier is similar to but different from rare earth doped optical amplifier. The amplification characteristics of SOA optical amplifier mainly depend on the medium characteristics of the active layer and the characteristics of the laser cavity. It also amplifies light by reversing the number of particles but it does so through non-equilibrium carriers, or pairs of electron holes, rather than through rare elements. The luminescence of semiconductor can be divided into photoluminescence, electroluminescence and cathode luminescence according to different excitation modes.
